Hippocrates (Chisinau, Moldova)
Children’s Health Centre Hippocrates has both a medical and social profile. Its mission is to improve the life quality of chronically ill children from socially vulnerable families and to facilitate their integration into society. This is accomplished with the enhancement of access to high quality multi-functional rehabilitation services and parental education. The aims of these services are to optimise the child’s potential and to enhance the development of a young body as it grows.
By working with parents of young children, Hippocrates are able to give a hope to the family and prevent the child being abandoned to a life locked away in an institution.

Future Plans
The current premises is cramped and restrictive in the provision of high quality care. The need to relocate
into new and larger premises is essential so that Hippocrates can help more children with more services and
bring the help they need and to support their successful integration into their local communities.
Additional funds are urgently needed to bring this vision into reality - please contact the office to find out
how you can help.
As well as the new premises Hippocrates and ChildAid are also seeking to achieve greater involvement of
parents into the rehabilitation process by adapting multifunctional therapy programmes - we are currently
reviewing the opprtunities of adopting models such as BIBIC or Portage
The Children's Health Centre Hippocrates was founded in 2000 and with the help of Tony Hawks, the writer and comedian (not the skateboarder) the Centre was opened the following year. You can find out more about Tony's links with Hippocrates on his website: www.tony-hawks.com
